We Need Paid Sick Leave for All B.C. Workers
Health science and community social service professionals know firsthand that we are all safer when sick workers stays home. Paid sick leave is not only good for public health, but is also vital for those working in health care settings. As the third wave of COVID-19 continues, paid sick leave will help reduce workplace exposures, easing pressures on our healthcare system and saving lives.
Yet only 53% of working people have access to paid sick leave in BC according to the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives. Nearly 90% of low wage workers have no paid sick leave.
This pandemic is far from over. BC needs strong systems in place that support and protect working people. Paid sick leave is the smart, safe choice for workers, businesses, and our communities.
Now is the time to act.
